Mouse House: Background colouring

I was given my second background to paint and colour for Mouse House after they approved my first scene. They gave me a slightly more complex shot which had finer detail and more complex shapes, however I was happy to tackle this scene. I started by blocking out the colours in thin layers so I had a plan to refer to, I then established where the sun and the light was going to fall was so that all of the shadows would be consistent. After doing this, I started to add the detail of the wheat field which took me a considerable amout of time. I made such that when painting the field that I divided it onto two layers, a foreground and I background. I did this so that I could practice aerial perspective, making the distant pieces of wheat less saturated in colour and less defined than the foreground ones. I was happy with the outcome of this and conveyed what you would see with the naked eye if you were looking at a real field of wheat.

The Director was again happy with my coloured shot, however suggested that I could improve it by adding even more detail to the stack of hay in the middle. I have been allocated another shot which I will work on over Easter.
