Title sequence: concept and Ideas
My group ended up picking the title sequence brief on 'Dadaism'. For this project we have to create a 60-90 second opening sequence for a television series which would explain the controversial art movement 'Dadaism'.
Everyone in my group had heard of the movement before, but didn't know about it in great detail. So we set about doing some background reasearch, looking into key figures and their influences.
After understanding 'Dadaism' in greater depth we started to form the rough concept. We decided that working in a range of mediums would be suitable for this task, (stop motion, 2d and collage) as the 'dadaist's' didn't limit themselves to one medium, they were well know for their sculpture, painting and collage.
The Dadaists were not serious, they had a lot of fun with their work, so we wanted to reflect this in the sequence, and imitate their humour. Some rough ideas we came up with were, the Mona Lisa's moustache growing bigger to fill the screen with the words directed by appearing in it, the man in Raoul Hausmann’s collage flicking ink onto the screen and Duchamp's urinal pedalling on a unicycle and spilling water out of it. We were therefore going to make the artworks come to life and animate them.
Our next steps will be starting to storyboard and think of ways of how to connect our ideas together so it flows smoothly.
