Curiosity Brief: Robot Design
We were asked by a student group on film and television to help them design a robot for their 3rd year film. We were given a rough brief to follow, but also left with a lot of creative freedom to come up with the original purpose of the robot and where it gets found by the child. The qualities the robot has to possess is a screen on its face and has to be humanoid in form (have arms and legs) due to the model being used for motion capture.
I came up with a junk yard robot, which back in the day used to be shinny but like the things it’s surrounded by has rusted. I had a lot of fun with this project and really got into looking at textures and figuring out how to replicate rust on photoshop. Overall I’m really happy with this initial design, and I look forward to coming up some concept ideas for the environment.
