Ticked Off: Texture tests
Whilst waiting for the 3D environment to be completed, I set about producing a series of tests, experimenting with different painterly techniques on Photoshop . After creating several different explorations I took them to the director to be reviewed. She was really pleased with the looks I had created and liked the effect of the colours bleeding in to each other, but suggested that I could make the surfaces even more scratchy.
After hearing this feedback I started looking at primary references, photos of scratchy metal surfaces and experimenting with ways I in which I could incorporate the look and feel of them in my work.
Cross hatching and overlaying the photographic texture in photoshop was most effective and I was able to produce something closer to what the director had envisaged, giving me the all clear to create the final textures.
