Live brief: Diversity

For our live brief this term we have been asked to create a short animation about hate crime. We have been given the freedom to chose an area to focus on, whether it be creating an awareness about what hate crime is, telling you how to report it or showing how hate crime affects an individual.

In our first group meeting we went round and said our initial ideas, I had this vision about scribbly balls of insults which follow people around and hover above individuals head, when they get insulted the ball of words gets bigger. Everyone really liked this concept and agreed that the scribbly angry lines suit the seriousness and hurtfulness of hate crime. Below I created a few mood boards which made the group clear on the kind of aesthetic I was envisaging.

Works from Pinterest and Henry Moore

I did a really quick animation test on how the balls of scribbles could work. The test was quite successful as the bubbling of the line works really well. In the next test I think I should experiment with including more words in the scribble, possibly insulting words said to the hate crime victims.
