Title sequence: backgrounds

For the title sequence I was given the task of creating the backgrounds for the majourity of the shots. 

I first came up with the background below, we hadn't fully discussed as a group what kind of look and style we were going for so I asked for a lot of feedback. What came back to me was the collage behind was too big and therefore the lettering was too distracting from the actual name being displayed on the screen. My group also suggested that instead of doing it digitally you make the actual collage so it has more textures of ripped paper and tape. 

Taking this all on board I set about creating real life collages which included dada artwork, type, articles on Dadaism, tape and textured paper. As the shots pan across and then upwards, I made one large collage so that it connects together and flows smoothly. After taking a photo of this I added a filter on the whole thing which unifies all of the shots together adding to the style of the animation

The image below just shows the direction of the pan from the left to the right and upwards where the smoke rises. My team were really pleased that I took they're criticism on board and are happy for the rest of the backgrounds to have this collage feel.
